26 Juni 2004 – twelfe and a half inch speakers will be provided

The famous 12,5 inch speakers had been taken from original plagiats of General speaker systems. As they are 30 years old, they all had been reconed and enforced to take 50 VA. This is 12 speakers for the PA and 6 for the monitors. We wanna have fun on stage, you know?

These are the little devils, doing very well, don´t they?

29 – July -2004: the mixer had been upgraded to 32 channels

Well,  as previously stated, an ebay auction had been missed out, since my daughter had just 2 handfull of sh.. in her trousers, as the auction ended. And if you do not want to risk too much trouble with your family, you have to set your priorities. This auction contained an 8 channel expander module.

However, a second complete 16 channel mixer from Vermona had been bought. After comparing both machines, we found out, the original one is a studio version where you have as well outputs for all sub groups. Therefore, a decision had been made and considered after a couple of beers and carried out after a couple of more beers to slaughter the second mixer and make a 16 channel expander module out of it.

The advantage of East German technology is, everything is a compatible modulare design. So if you open the mixer, you have 3 main modules: the sum and subgroup master module and 2 8 channel mudules, connected by an internal bus, which is also accessable over a multi-pin connector from the outside. Clever beast, eh?

Knowing that, perhaps the ebay mixer incl. the expander module would have found it´s final state as a 24 channel expander. I believer, out toner of the year, Dirk would hate us. As he will anyway on his return from his holidays this weekend J

17-Aug-2004 long time no talk but big steps forward

Sorry, I did not have time for an update. But here we go: 3 monitors are completely finished. 50VA power each. 3 others (right front) just the speaker needs some assembly to the woodworks. Ion the back left: still the 15 inch bass drivers. Underneath the mixing desk. Behind the beer: 1 of 4 bass expo systems (4 finished, 2 of them need a bit of painting still), in top of that the complete high frequency drivers. So it looks, as if the soundcheck on 28-Aug-2004 could work out well…

21 – Aug – 2004 Der Countdown to the soundcheck in 1 weeks time

A few wires and a 2nd paint of the last remaining bass speaker. Everything else seems to be ready for the soundcheck next week on the:

FSS (Fojtka Soloists Sound System)

28 – Aug- 2004 Finished

Quote Pfütze: “I believe it could be possibly used.” In other words: It sounds great. After first obstacles to begin with (the power supply of the mixing desk died but had been replaced after stgripping the thing down completely) the whole thing worked like hell. Power without end and perfect sound.

So we obviously did something right.
